Welcome to S. Nicholl Furniture. Launched by Simon Nicholl in 2009, we are a bespoke furniture company designing and making handcrafted furniture across the areas of Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, London and the surrounding towns.

Our dedicated team of cabinet makers are situated in a thriving workshop just outside of Hitchin, Hertfordshire. Specialising in bespoke free standing and fitted furniture, our skilled furniture makers work to the highest standard to create unique handmade furniture for the home and work environment. Available to design and deliver custom made furniture across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, London and the surrounding areas.

Simon Nicholl originally followed his passion for art and design studying Illustration at Manchester Metropolitan University. On completion he went on to study cabinet making at London Metropolitan University, formally the London College of Furniture. To gain experience in the work environment Simon combined this education with working alongside experienced cabinet maker Geoffrey Rowe before launching S. Nicholl Furniture in 2009.

In 2022, S. Nicholl Furniture launched a new division of the company, Whitwell Sawmill. Whitwell Sawmill is a small local wood yard and sawmill specialising in kiln dried locally sourced timber. Having worked making bespoke furniture for over a decade, Simon is passionate about wanting to change the way we make use of our wood in the UK, and move away from having our furniture made from imported timber. This led to the creation of Whitwell Sawmill, selling local English hardwoods.  The sawmill now has an extension collection of English Timbers available to buy for your home woodworking projects or this timber can be used by us to make your S.
